This is being made mandatory every country, not only India. The local ID card in other nations would be used to link.

It has nothing to do with Govt of the day. As this rule is being made by FB

Also linking the ID cards would eradicate fake IDs on FB.

w.r.t the article posted above i also read that FB was testing but if they made is mandatory then India data will be highly misused because those who are addicted will gave even passport details too.
