Aadhar Card, Mandatory For Booking Train Tickets

If you don’t have an Aadhaar card already, you are for sure going to face challenges while booking train tickets.

Here’s why:

After linking Aadhar card with passport and LPG service, the government has linked the card to railway ticketing and booking.

Whenever you’re booking train tickets, you’ll need the Aadhar card, as it is has been made mandatory by the Indian Railways. You’ll be required to link your Aadhaar card to IRCTC.

Those who till date don’t own a valid Aadhaar card will now have to apply for it, considering one would be eligible for booking reserved as well as unreserved berths provided they have an Aadhaar card. It’s important to note that the new regulations will come into effect starting December 2016.

This initiative will enable the Indian Railways to keep frauds at bay. Presently, many fraudulent instances are reported regarding passengers misusing age concessions and other exceptions they don’t meet the requirements for. Also, the linking of Aadhaar with IRCTC will provide passengers with a better booking experience.
