In India there are around 900 tv channels but none of the dth has the capacity of providing all channel.

By 2015 there will be around 1200 tv channels including 100 hd channels.

But where is the space capacity in dth?

Today they are providing only 250-300 channels i.e 30%

In 2015 they can only provide 25% channels.

So better to avoid dth or dth companies should be geographical specific.

In a day we have 24 hours which is equal to 1440 minutes. So, for watching 900 channels we can spend only 1.6 minute per channel.

So, is it Really required to have so many channels.

I think 100 or maximum 200 channels of personalized choice would be more than enough for anyone to watch throughout the day.

What is breaking news here?

By the time DTH companies will be able to carry more channels without reducing quality by using new compression technologies.

Also among these 1200 only 200 or 300 will be worth watching , so DTH companies will include only those who are good no crap channels.

Package pricing is bigger concerns than TP issue. If all 900 channels are added is anyone ready to pay Rs 2000-3000 every month :p

Dish TV and Airtel Digital TV don't have any TP issue as of now.

Tata Sky has hell shortage issue followed by Videocon d2h , Sun Direct and Reliance Digital TV.

In a days normal viewing average person watch 10 to 15 channel depending upon program .... rather than having quantity ... the channel should focus on quality.... more the channel less will be the TRP of particular channel .. thus effecting their earning and increase in subscription. Resson being prime time will remain the same 7 to 10... or extension say 11 PM... More cost for cable and DTH operator to carry channels which will eventually be born by subscribers ... So Guys relax i am not in favor of 500 or 600 + channel ... what we get is sufficient enough .... yes what should grow is on demand service which should cater to individual mood and preference
