Investigations into the Saradha scam are yet to get over but West Bengal is already hit by another wave of Ponzi scams. While some of these scams like Rose Valley are much bigger in scale compared to Saradha, others like the MPS scam are almost equal in proportion.
Kinjal Bhattacharya, 49, sold his book-binding business in Kolkata that was his only source of income and deposited his sale proceeds with various collective investment schemes of the MPS Group. After the company went bust, Bhattacharya lost Rs 50 lakh which is almost the entire savings of his family.
Now he is left with little choice but to form an association with fellow depositors who were similarly cheated and fight a legal battle against the MPS Group.
