Asianet Digital, the cable TV division of Asianet Satellite Communications in Kerala, has added 13 high-definition channels. With this, the number of HD channels has increased to 30 in its bouquet.

Given the increased panel TV sales and higher consumer demand for HD content, the multi-system operator (MSO) has introduced 13 premium HD channels in genres of general entertainment, music, movies, infotainment, and lifestyle.

Asianet has packaged the channels in three HD packages such as Gold HD pack, Platinum HD pack, and the premium Emerald HD pack that offers 30 HD channels.

Asianet also offers SD packages in various price points to cater to cross sections of the audience.

Asianet Digital EVP Binu George said, “Asianet will be increasing the channels in high definition (HD) and standard definition (SD) formats to beyond 350 channels soon with more than 50 HD channels to offer viewers constantly engaging and delightful wholesome entertainment for the family.”

Asianet provides different models of STBs manufactured by Cisco and LG.

The company is the first MSO in the country to introduce the Android HD STB.

With the Android STB, a channel can be viewed on TV and another channel can be viewed on a smartphone and recorded too.

There are no ways to know the number and the names of channels and subscription amount offered by Asianet Digital the cable distribution wing of Asianet Satellitte communications a Kerala based TV channels distribution company which is the biggest TV distribution arm in the state. It is not listed in asianetdigital website too. Even phone calls to the company may not get a correct reply as they say it is listed under different categories. Recently they are advertising that they are offering more than 30 HD channels. The two Malayalam HD channels namely Mazhavil Manorama HD is available on this platform but for a price, and Asianet HD channel has not appeared so far. The customer service is not up to the mark. I had shifted from True Dish TV to Asianet digital though the initial cost of the HD STB is very high but the monthly subscription amount is well comparable with DTH operators. I would like Asianet Digital to publish the details which the subscriber wants to know on their website.

I have been on a constant watch about the HD channels given by different DTH operators. Now I am having Asianet Digital in Kerala but surprisingly ITV Choice HD is offered by Asianet Digital but no other DTH operator gives it. Don't know the reason, however.

Although Asianet TV channel was once a part of Asianet Cable Services (now Asianet Digital), their HD channel (Asianet HD) is not in
Asianet Digital platform so far whereas it is available in many other cable/DTH platforms in the State of Kerala and elsewhere. I hope
Asianet Digital (cable platform of Asianet Cable Distribution co. a subsidiary of Hathway) shall take up the matter to get it on board at the
earliest.
