Asianet News Digital from South India plans to enter the Tamil market soon. Having a prominent presence in Kannada and Malayalam, it is also planning to expand its Telugu team. Anoop N, the new COO of this digital property of the ANPL group spoke to exchange4media about the expansion plans and more.

“From a strategy perspective, it is to ensure that the dominance which we have on the audience viewership is translated in digital on both the existing Kannada and Malayalam assets. For the two new assets, the two new languages we’ll be foraying in is Telugu and Tamil. For Telugu, we have a small team and we’ll be building it organically there. We’ll be able to announce something about that soon,” said Anoop, when asked about his expansion and strategy moving forward.

Speaking about their recently launched product, Newsable, the new COO said, “Newsable was an English product that we launched last April. The idea is to try and make it a strong video news destination that captures the millennial audience. Video will remain a very integral part of all the five pieces we’re trying to build, which is the four regional languages and English. The sales, technology, and content teams are being geared up from a talent perspective as well as an investment perspective.”
