I don't think Gayle will ever play for WICB at least in tests or we may not see him ever to play for WICB.

The article states the following:

And while Gayle, 35, insisted he is not retiring from any format of the game, his shift in focus looks to be narrowing on an exclusively T20 career.

The batsman is set to arrive at Taunton on either May 22 or 29 depending on how far the Royal Challengers Bangalore progress in the Indian Premier League.

Gayle, who last played a Test match in September, 2014, stressed the rigours of playing five-day cricket are likely to be beyond him for the foreseeable future.

“I definitely want to play the T20 World Cup next year for West Indies [in India in March and April, 2016] - there’s no doubt about that,” he said.

“But I’ve got a few concerns and injuries to try and solve.

He added: “I’m out of the Test series but I haven’t retired from any format as yet.

“As I go on I will keep informing WICB about my progress in the future with West Indies cricket.”

New Windies boss Phil Simmons would not have been expecting to have the services of Gayle for the three-Test series against England, starting in Antigua on April 13.

If he keeps the status quo, Simmons will rely on the promising Kraigg Brathwaite and the more experienced Devon Smith as his opening partnership but he does have three weeks to assess his options.

Simmons’s appointment to the head coach role also appeared to catch Gayle by surprise which says much about broken lines of communication within West Indies cricket at the moment.

However he insisted he was looking forwards to working with the coach, who stepped down from the Ireland job after eight years in the role.

“I wish him all the best and hopefully he will have a successful coaching career with West Indies and can uplift West Indies cricket and take us further in international cricket,” said the batsman.

But why bro he recently played a test for them in march..
Gayle was angry when WICB didn't select Bravo, Pollard for CWC 15, mean while WICB chief RT Gayle's retirement related tweet after CWC 15 he clearly said that he will not play Test series against England.

Thing is that now Gayle not interested to play for WI nor WI interested to select him.

What a tragedy for west indies cricket...Gayle dont want tot play test cricket..Bravo, Sammy and Lendl Simmons had announced their Test retirements, while Pollard took an "indefinite break" from first-class cricket earlier this year. Russell indicated he was not physically capable of playing the long form and Narine has been sidelined due to questions about his bowling action....
Phil Simmons has much work to do for his home team than ireland...
