Bajaj Auto might launch the new Bajaj Avenger range in the country at an event in Mumbai on October 27, 2015. Though there is no official word about its launch as of now, the company has sent an invite to media for an event taking place on 27th October. And now that the company has already started dispatching the first lot of the new range to its dealerships across the nation, we believe the upcoming event is being planned for the national launch of the updated Avenger.

While there will be two 220 DTS-i engine-powered versions – Street and Cruise, an entry-level 150cc version might also go on sale to lure a larger percentage of buyers. While the 150cc version might share its engine with Pulsar 150AS, the Bajaj Avenger 220 Street and 220 Cruise might continue to feature the same 220cc DTS-i engine that powers the existing version.

The Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise will look more or less similar to the current model, but with heavier chrome treatment and a new exhaust. The Avenger 220 Street variant, on the other hand, will get an all-black treatment and almost no chrome. The 220 Street’s engine, alloy wheels and exhaust too will get black treatment. Other noteworthy features could be a digital instrument cluster and new graphics.

With the introduction of new Bajaj Avenger range, the company aims to double its monthly sales that’s hovering around 3,500 currently. And with an even more affordable variant of the cruiser in the lineup, we think there is a high probability of the company meeting its target.

Bajaj launches Avenger cruiser at Rs 84,000

After five long years, Bajaj Auto, India's second largest two-wheeler manufacturer, has given its only cruiser bike the much needed upgrade by launching the Avenger at Rs 84,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Pune-based manufacturer today launched three variants of the Avenger - Cruise 220, Street 220 and Street 150 - to cater to cruise biking enthusiasts. The Street 150 is priced at Rs 75,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

This would be Bajaj's seventh launch in 2015 and fifth launch this financial year. It had earlier launched three Pulsars, one Discover, Platina and CT100 models.

Unlike a regular motorcycle, a cruiser is associated with long distance, relaxed biking experience. This concept was first promoted by world's largest cruiser bike manufacturer Harley-Davidson.

The new Avenger will sport a new high grip handlebar, which is akin to traditional cruisers. It will also get a re-styled instrument cluster and body graphics. Two of the variants will have 220cc engine.

While 220 Cruise variant will have traditional spoke wheels with lots of chrome finish, the 220 Street variant gets jet black alloy wheels on the lines of the in-demand Harley-Davidson Street 750.

The 220 series will deliver 19ps of peak power and a torque of 17.5 nm. The bikes come with oil cooler. The 150 version has a peak power of 14.5ps and a torque of 12.5nm.

Like its predecessors, the new Avenger will have very little competition as two-wheeler makers continue to focus on regular commuter or high performance bikes. Its only closest rival remains the Royal Enfield series of motorcycles that have bigger engines and are more expensive.
