Airtel Balance Deduction in Airtel for Value Added Services

Dear Experts,

Today I was downloading ABP News app from market place and an advertisement link popped up. I pressed skip ad, and 99 Rs. balance got deducted. When I contacted airtel to stop the payment, there was no such provision. Then they suggested me to put airtel mobile office as access point settings and remove airtel live as internet setting. But in android samsung mobiles there is no such differentiation in settings. There is just one entry in APN and that is airtelgprs. Please help me on this. This is a generic issue with airtel and many people have lost their money.

Call 155223, trai has launched a separate helpline number for wrong VAS activation. This news was shared few days back here

Alternatively check APN settings here : Settings > More settings > Mobile Networks > access point names

I just now installed this stupid abp news advt. and gt the freaky half screen pop up advt. amazing thing was that, it didn't me to grab the screenshot too.

this is not only on airtel,my aircel also doing like this.i not recharged it last one year.only 3g top ups.just delete airtel live settings from connection settings(mobile office dose not allow any money detection), for aircel remove aircel MMS services.but we cant get back this money because we are paid to app provider not for airtel or aircel.

@Shiwesh Kumar Be aware of these adds. I used to get so many adds in my notification and if by mistake press on that adds my money got deducted almost like 75 rs to 99 rs. What I used to do is call 121 and immediately cancel the payments. Some time they tell me it will deduct in next bill but it used to appear in the bill. I used reduce the amount and pay them and call the cc for cancel it and I will tell them that I am not going to pay. You need to be very aggressive with these guys to get your money back. Delete those apps which generate these kind of adds.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I had asked the CC few questions to which he had no answers. He was arguing that sir these things we can not stop etc etc. But my question was, if I open this link from laptop, will they be able to deduct money? If I open this link with just 3G service and no balance, will it deduct money? Then how come if I have some money with you goes to third party without my consent (or by deceiving me)?

Now they have given me some manual settings (as there is no separate Mobile Office and Airtel Live in my android phone). They asked me to set Internet in place of Internet+MMS in one of the settings in APN.

Let's see what happens. IM bhai, I will call TRAI number.

TRAI had strictly instructed all Service Provider not to activate any Value Added Service without the consent of user.

In the recent regulation, they have instructed all Service Provider to activate any VAS only if customer provide consent in written like email, SMS, Fax. No other means will be treated as authentic.

So, handle Operators with hot rod and instruct Airtel not to activate any VAS without your written request. And don't forget to take the refund. They will surely give the money back to you.
