Tata sky has planning to move on mpeg4 within 1 month. Huge demand of channels from customer and down growth of tata sky is the main reason behind this. So they are not waiting for gsat 10 launch.

yupzz But the point is how will they Replace 6 million Stb's..
seems to be immpossible.

Who says that they need 6 million STB to be replaced. As far as I know , they had been issuing MPEG4 STB since last 3 years which supports technology downwards too. i.e Same MPEG4 STB can be used for MPEG4 signal as well as MPEG2 signals also.

So this means all of our STB are already supports MPEG4 (I took T(SHD in 2010)?

I think after 2009 all stb's are MPEG-4 supportable ones.

Yes, of course. Undoubtedly in case of HD .

Not only HD but all dvrs are mpeg 4 compatiable. They would have upgraded all replaced mpeg 2 stbs too.

So, remaining SD boxes can be replaced by MPEG4 boxes in a maximum time frame of 6 months.

I was expecting this by TS long back but anyways better to be late than never.
