The Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) decision to disallow recertification of movies for television is beginning to hurt broadcasters. Film producers are also fearing that their revenue from sale of satellite rights will be impacted. Broadcasters are caught in a fix with this stringent point of view of the chairman of the CBFC, commonly known as the Censor Board. Last week, a delegation of broadcasters, led by Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) secretary general Girish Srivastava, met CBFC chairman Pahlaj Nihalani to present the case. It included representatives from Star India, Zee Entertainment Enterprises, Multi Screen Media, Viacom18, Times Network, Turner International India and Disney India.
