:Sending a stern warning that people could not allowed to hold the country to ransom and destroy public properties in the name of agitation, the Supreme Court on Wednesday said that strict action must be taken against individual or parties resorting to such practice.
A bench headed by Justice J S Khehar said that the apex court would take a call on the issue and frame guidelines to punish people who damage or destroy public properties.
The SC bench said: "Whether it is political party like BJP, Congress or any people, they must realize that public properties can't be destroyed in agitation."

The court was heating a plea filed by Hardik Patel challenging slapping of sedition charge against him. The court in the last hearing expanded the ambit of the petition and said that it would also examine the issue of damage of public propertied during Patel reservation agitation led by Hardik.
