The tournament will begin on 8 August and finish on 16 September.

The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) fixtures for the 2018 season have been announced, with the opening match scheduled for 8 August.

The 34-match season will run until 6 September, with the competition returning to the USA for the third successive year.

Last year’s winners, Trinbago Knight Riders, face St Lucia Stars in the opening fixture, while the Guyana Amazon Warriors will get underway against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. Game five will see a repeat of last year’s final with the Knight Riders taking on the Patriots.

This year's semi-final and final will be in Trinidad, but the venue for the first two knockout matches is yet to be confirmed.

Gabriel joins Trinbago Knight Riders for CPL 2018

Shanon Gabriel will join the Trinbago Knight Riders for the 2018 edition of the Caribbean Premier League, as replacement for Junior Dala from South Africa, who is no longer available due to international commitments in Sri Lanka. He returns to the franchise after having represented them in 2014.

"Shannon is a world-class bowler, and he has shown that in international cricket. It is great to have him joining the TKR family. We are really looking forward to getting our title defense underway on 8 August," Venky Mysore, Director of the Knight Riders, said on Thursday (June 28).

Steven Smith to play for Barbados Tridents in CPL 2018 | Cricbuzz.com

Australia batsman Steven Smith will represent Barbados Tridents in the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2018 as he returns to the tournament for the first time in five years. He last featured in the league in 2013 playing for Antigua Hawksbills.

Smith, who is currently serving a one-year ban imposed by Cricket Australia (CA) for his involvement in the ball-tampering saga in the Cape Town Test, returned to cricket with the Toronto Nationals in the recently concluded Global T20 Canada.

Smith, who has scored 3124 runs in T20 cricket, including a hundred and 11 fifties, will replace Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan who is no longer available for the tournament.

Meanwhile, St Lucia Stars confirmed earlier that David Warner, who is also facing a 12-month ban, will make his CPL debut this season. Warner was named as a replacement to D'Arcy Short, who will not be able to part take in the T20 tournament as he is part of the Australia A squad that tours India for a quadrangular series.

The CA ban does not restrict both from playing overseas leagues or lower-grade cricket.
