Thank you for writing to me.

Tata Sky has been consistently finding ways to overcome the capacity constraint, even at huge cost, to ensure that our subscribers get content of their choice, delivered to them in the best possible quality. Since January this year we have added 29 new channels, SD & HD and will continue to do so in the coming times too. It is possible that some of these new channels may not be of interest to you due to their language or genre. However, you will appreciate that we have to cater to all audiences across age groups and geographies in the country.
Often we come across very rich, high quality content that we know some of our customers would appreciate. However, in some instances this content comes to us outside of the existing commercial deals we have with the broadcasters. Our options are to either not carry this content or to carry it at the lowest possible price we can negotiate with the owners of this content and leave the option of subscription to our customers.
Keeping in mind this opportunity, we thought of creating a Specials category early this year. Our customers who renewed since Feb ‘13 were informed at the time of renewal and our web sites and other communications also carried information about this.
Star Premier HD is the first such Specials channel that we are introducing.
We hope you will understand our endeavour to offer you a choice of content you may like, outside of our existing commercial terms with the broadcasters.

So that means they are agreeing that before Feb 2013 they didn't mentioned about the special thing. So who have renewed before Feb 2013 will definitely get the channel. But i doubt about renewals after Feb 2013.

Absolutely rubbish. I had purchased Tata Sky 4 months back and not a single staff out of 10 whom I interacted conveyed the " Special Category " concept.

Even when I July I was doing annual recharge. I was told on chat as well as phone that all upcoming channels will be part Mega HD pack. If the same was designed in February 2013, was Tata Sky sleeping till now. Why didn't they posted the same on their website like they have posted about HD access fee.

Till now they were looting us with one hand. Now they have opened both the hands. :beat:

This is with reference to your email dated 24th Sept 13 addressed to our Nodal Officer, expressing your concern over the Star World HD premiere not being part of Mega pack.

We understand and appreciate your concern. However, please allow us to explain the reason.

Firstly, may i take this opportunity to inform you that Star World Premiere HD is the first channel launched under the category of Tata Sky Specials . This is a first in the industry as well as for Tata Sky customers. With this Channel, you will be able to watch the latest bigger shows at the same time as American Subscribers. As a premium special service, it is the only channel that has 26 new and returning shows. We do plan to add more premium services like this in the near future.

Furthermore, our Annual subscription proposition had recently been revised. Our valued subscribers were accordingly informed that going forward this subscription package will EXCLUDE any Specials . In other words, Premium Special channels like Star World HD premiere will require a separate subscription. This was applicable to all the renewals post February 2013.

At the time of your renewal , you would have received the communication from us. I am reproducing the relevant clause here for your reference which is also updated on our website (www.tatasky.com):

** Any new SD channel (non Special ) introduced on Tata Sky will be available as part of your Mega Pack
** Mega packs doesn t include specials* w.e.f 1st Feb 2013

May I also take this opportunity to reiterate that this never- before Special is available to you at a very special Annual price of only Rs.500 pa( Just Rs.60 pm ).

We hope you will enjoy our Specials and look forward to the renewal of your Tata Sky subscription.

I think Tatasky again will go through from this issue.

Even one single channel addition they make sure that they take every penny from its user for that channel

Nope buddy. After Nodal stupid mail, i got another mail from shortsighted and money minded CEO of Tata Sky.

He is copy-pasting the same mail(shared in 1st post) to everyone who is mailing them. So, now i am planning to include TRAI and I&B ministry into this matter.
