The Champions League T20, which official broadcaster Star India wants to let go because of its loss-making nature, is still not killed. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will take a decision on the Champions League T20 only after consultation with Cricket Australia and Cricket South Africa (CSA), Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Rajeev Shukla said after a governing council meeting. There was buzz in the media that CL T20 was being scrapped in favour of a mini-IPL. However, Shukla cleared the air by saying that no such decision has been taken yet. “No discussion on CLT20 scrapping. Any decision on CLT20 can only be taken at the CLT20 governing council, which comprises CSA and CA. It will be taken at that forum,” he told PTI. Star India has requested the BCCI to scrap the tournament as it is not garnering enough viewership.
