Colors holds on to No. 2 slot on the back of fiction shows

Star Plus continues to lead the Hindi general entertainment channels while Colors has retained its No. 2 position for the second consecutive week, according to data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 35 (August 26 – September 1). Colors’ Balika Vadhu averaged 5.5 TVR this week against last week’s average of 4.8 TVR. The special episode of the show on August 30 garnered 6.4 TVR.
Zee TV and Sony Entertainment Television remained at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, while SAB and Life OK garnered the same points in Week 35.
Star Plus continued at the top with 264 GRPs this week (last week 265).
Riding high on fiction shows, Colors has been able to stay put in the No.2 position this week. Its flagship and top running fiction show Balika Vadhu has garnered an average of 5.5 TVR. The channel garnered 245 GRPs (last week 258).
Zee TV remains at No. 3 with 227 GRPs this week (last week 237).
Sony Entertainment Television continues at No. 4 with 210 GRPs this week (last week 211).
There is a tie between SAB TV and Life OK this week. Both the channels have recorded 132 GRPs this week (last week 126 and 125 respectively.)

Based on data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 35 of TAM 2012 (August 26 – September 1), the highlight of the week was Colors’ flagship fiction Balika Vadhu that attracted more eyeballs and recorded an averageTVR of 5.1 for original episodes and overall 5.5 TVR. The special episode of the show on August 30 garnered 6.4 TVR which was the highest for any show this week.
Among weekday shows, Star Plusheld four positions while Colors stood second acquiring three spots among the top 10 shows. Sony Entertainment Television, Zee TV and SAB TV secured one position each.
Among weekend programming, there was an interesting trend where viewers rejected the world TV premiere of blockbuster movie ‘The Dirty Picture’. The movie failed to attract eyeballs and recorded average ratings. Zee TV’s DID Superkids topped the weekend chart for the second week in a row.

Weekday shows
Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plustopped the weekday programming despite a sharp fallin its ratings this week. The show recorded an average ratingof 5.6 TVR (last week 6.7).
Colors’ Balika Vadhu continued to add more eyeballs and remained the second-most watched show. Its special episode on August 30 was the highest rated show of the week with 6.4 TVR. Balika Vadhu recorded an average TVR of 5.1 for original episodes and overall 5.5 TVR (last week 4.8).
Star Plus’ fiction show Saathiya held on to the No. 3 position this week. The show maintained an average TVR of 3.7 (last week 3.7).
Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on Star Plus also stayed firm at No. 4with an average rating of 3.5 TVR (last week 3.6).
Sony’s flagship fiction show Bade Achche Lagte Hain climbed one position to No. 5 with an average of 3.4 TVR (last week 3.3).
SAB TV’s Taarak Mehta also climbed one position to No. 6 with an average TVR of 3.3 for the week 35 (last week 3.2).
Colors’ Sasural Simar Ka slipped two positions to No. 7, recording an average TVR of 3.1 (last week3.5).
Zee TV’s Pavitra Rishta again entered the top 10 club at No. 8 with an average TVR of 3.0.
Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hai on Star Plus slipped to No. 9 averaging 2.9 TVR (last week 3.1).
At No. 10, Colors’ Uttaran averaged at 2.8 TVR this week (last week 2.8).

Weekend toppers
Among weekend programming, this week the world TV premiere of ‘The Dirty Picture’ failed to impress viewers and recorded average ratings. It recorded 2.2 TVR at 12 PM and 2.5 TVR at 8.30PM on Sunday, August 26, 2012.
DID Superkids on Zee TV remained the chart topper and recorded an average TVR of 4.4 TVR in Week 35.
Sony’s CID has recorded an average TVR of 3.6 (last week 3.5).
Sony’s other crime show, Crime Patrol, fetched 3.5 TVR this week (last week 3.9).
Zee TV’s Fear Files has averaged at 2.9 TVR this week (last week 3.0).
Colors’ celebrity dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Ja, recorded an average of 2.8 TVR this week (last week4.3).
The grand finale of Indian Idol on Sony garnered 2.7 TVR (last week average 2.1).
Star Plus’ crime fiction Arjun has fetched average ratings of 1.9 TVR (last week 1.7).
Zee TV’s Ramayan could not holdon to viewers this week too and lost further ratings. The mythological series recorded 1.3 TVR for the episode on August 27, 2012 at 11 am (last week 1.8)
