Hardik Pandya sidelined for six weeks due to shoulder fracture

Hardik Pandya is expected to be out action for at least six weeks after he suffered a fracture in his right shoulder in Mohali, the Board for Control of Cricket in India announced on Tuesday (November 29). The all-rounder was hit during a net session and was subsequently released from the side to consult a specialist.

Pandya has been warming the benches for the India squad after he was handed a maiden call up to the Test team for this series.

India are already without the services of KL Rahul, who missed the Mohali Test due to a last minute forearm injury. Rahul also missed the first Test due to injury but was back in the side for the second Test in Vishakapatnam. The opener is expected to be fit for the Mumbai Test and will consult the specialist ahead of the game. Both Rahul and Pandya were released from the the squad during the Mohali Test.

Mohammad Hafeez cleared to bowl in international cricket

Mohammad Hafeez, the Pakistan all-rounder, has been cleared to bowl in international cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Wednesday (November 30). The 36-year-old underwent the test in Brisbane on November 17 and was subsequently cleared, after all his off-spin deliveries were found to be under the permitted 15-degree limit.

Hafeez was reported for the first time in the opening Test against Sri Lanka in Galle in June last year. Subsequently, he was banned by the ICC in July and the suspension expired in July this year. He was eligible to go for the test immediately but a knee injury during the England tour meant he decided to delay the test. Though he was allowed to bowl in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) barred him from bowling in the country's Twenty20 league. Hafeez also worked with Carl Crowe, a bowling coach from England, to correct his action.

However, the umpires can still report Hafeez. "The umpires are still at liberty to report Hafeez if they believe he is displaying a suspect action and not reproducing the legal action from the reassessment," the ICC said in a statement. "To assist the umpires, they will be provided with images and video footage of the bowlers remodeled legal bowling action."

Hafeez was dropped from the Pakistan Test for the tour of New Zealand and Australia even when he continued to play in domestic cricket. Though he wasn't bowling in the first-class matches, the lack of runs too hurt his case.

Sabbir, Al-Amin handed heavy fines

Sabbir Rahman and Al-Amin Hossain have been handed heavy fines for "serious off-field disciplinary breaches", the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said on Wednesday (November 30). The duo was fined around $15,000 for having allegedly allowed female guests in their hotel rooms.

"The players have been reminded of their responsibility as national cricketers and have been warned that any repetition of similar acts of indiscretion in the future will result in harsher penalty, the board said in a statement.

While the BCB didn't reveal any details of the charges against the players, Prothom Alo, a local daily reported online that both the players had taken female guests to their hotel rooms during the tour.

The fines imposed on the players is the highest ever by the BCB, on disciplinary grounds. While Al-Amin will lose 50% of his pay from Barisal Bulls, Sabbir will lose 30% of his pay from Rajshahi Kings.

For Sabbir though, the trouble didn't end there as he was fined further for an on-field altercation with Mohammad Shahzad. Both were fined 15% of their match fees for the incident. The Afghanistan opener was also slapped with a two-match ban after he poked Sabbir with his bat while the bowler was celebrating the dismissal.
