Indian players could be rested for Ranji Trophy, hints MSK Prasad
The Indian cricket team has been marred with injuries with as many as six players including openers M Vijay and KL Rahul, Wriddhiman Saha, Mohammad Shami, Hardik Pandya and Jayant Yadav having suffered various injuries over the course of the five-Test England series.
With the Ranji Trophy quarterfinals scheduled to start, and also with the involvement of many national players with the Ranji sides, India's chief selector MSK Prasad has hinted that the Indian players could be rested for the Ranji Trophy quarter-finals. "I'm not sure, we haven't still decided about it.The players have been playing for quite some time now. So I think it will be unfair on our part to expect them to play in the quarterfinal. But we will think about it," he said.
Prasad, however, was not really concerned with the high number of players suffering from injuries. "They have been playing for quite some time. It's part of the game. There is nothing much to worry about it," he told Times of India.
