then kindly tell me which is the right formula to cater the feed of 130 crores indians out of which 66 % needed the food bill act. please reply
Agricultural land is being destroyed and tonnes of grains go waste in the out, rain or sun, cant the central govt act to save it? FYI,many states have opposed the food bill act.
The National Food Security Bill has been generating much excitement across the country, but not in Tamil Nadu. This is because the state is slated to pioneer to have a more comprehensive model in the form ofUniversal Public Distribution System (PDS). Irrespective of any governments, the coverage of the PDS has been universal and continues to expand.

A state government official said that at a time when the state is undergoing a drought, the people's dependance on PDS has become higher as it was evident in the offtake of rice across the state. While, on an average, 82% of the monthly allocation of rice is being used by rice card holders, some districts have reported 90 to 95% of the utilisation of their respective allocation.

The PDS in Tamil Nadu is a success story, in its coverage as well as its pricing. The state government is implementing the system and no exclusion is made based on the income criteria. The system which the state government described as 'poor friendly' ordering rice at free of cost through the system to all eligible card holders from June 1, 2011.

TN to have more comprehensive version of Food Security Bill | Business Standard News

The latest to join the Opposition's brigade of food bill critics who have said the Bill should be allowed to pass, is senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi. In an interview to The Economic Times, Joshi flayed the Bill saying that it was a political measure to pool in votes, not one that has been formulated to rein in the economy fast slipping out of the government's hands. He told ET:

Congress is pushing the bill only for political and electoral reasons. Former US secretary for food and agriculture, Earl Butz, once said, "Food is a weapon. It is now one of the principal tools in our bargaining kit." Similarly, may I say, Congress is now trying to use food as a political tool for bargaining with people for votes in the Lok Sabha polls. Yet, the bill has major flaws.

He goes on to elaborate on the inadequacies of the Food Security Bill by pointing out how the eligibility criteria for people who deserve subsidized food grains is not accurate, therefore, unfairly leaving out people who are entitled to such relief measures. He also points out how 5 kilos of food grains per person per month, minus pulses, is hardly adequate given studies have already established that an adult needs at least 15 kilos of food grains a month and a child needs seven.
