Update current status of gsat 10

Well there is an obvious difference between mpg 2 and mpg4 provided the channel is also mpg4. if you have c band dish compare b4u music with any other channel u will find a huge difference in quality

As far gsat is concerned I think it has failed if that was not the case channels would have been added

Well few of the channels in C Band r in MPEG2 , for example few Star ,NGC,ZEE channels r telecasting in MPEG2 from C Band. DTH is downloading them and Upscaling [may be another name]or Compressing While Uploading to MPEG4. Then downloading in MPEG4 barring Dish TV / Tatasky/DDD+.Please correct me if i am wrong . I have seen very few channels using MPEG4 in C Band . C Band channel quality is the best as i know. no issues in Dolby Digital/AC3 in their original Telecast .

I agree most of the channels are MPEG2 but in future for sure all will be MPEG4. But with C band broadcasting it will not make any difference for most of the users as most of the cable operators use decoders which give an AV out to the headend and so it gets converted to analog, The problem is broadcasters are reluctant to provide CAM cards. with DTH operators my hunch is they get cam cards or use IP based professional decoders. But when an DTH uses MPEG 4 the major advantage it gets is in the space it ends up saving.

Sorry for being offtopic in my previous post but the million dollar question still remains what is happening with Gsat has it failed as per the rumors couple of months ago as there is no logical reason for its delay

I am saying the same as MPEG4 gives more space to DTH ops. The PQ will not change much in MPEG2 or MPEG 4 depends the DTH ops uses much advanced technology for coding and decoding while telecasting... every one can experiance the changes in PQ in differant DTH as they r using the same MPEG4. Presently D2H/RDTV/Sun Direct/ADTV using MPEG4 but There is very much differance in PQ for SD Channels inbetween those DTHs .
AFAIK PQ also depends upon the Quality of STB/LNB and Uploading technology [downloading from original C Band Channel /coding and decoding] used by certain DTH oops.

More over u can compare the PQ of DDD+ . If we use a good STB its very good in quality. no one is comparing the PQ of DDD+. Surely its one of the best in DTH .

Guys,

My apologies for my wrong knowledge. Thanks for correcting the same. But why is the Pic quality of SD channels very bad even in some of good LCD TVs. This is not an individual perception. But many feel the same.

Yes off course, the Million $ question remains unanswered. What happened to GSAT 10.

There may be few reasons as i feel . may be wrong.
Original PQ of the same channel may be not good,
Depends upon the technology used by certain DTH.
Depends upon quality of DTH STB.
U can see differance in PQ of same SD/HD Channel in various DTH..
