Not a single channel encrypted but card deactivated and if users want FTA channels they can bought receivers and I don't think people bought dishtv for FTA channels.

You won't believe but i got same reply from Tata Sky when i asked them why can't i get DD Channels for free when its a la carte price is zero and why am being forced to opt channels worth Rs 150+ tax to watch these free channels.

They said that channels are free but i have to be active subscriber in order to enjoy free channels. and then i felt that yes if i enjoy a private operator box and service then he is viable to charge me something even for free channels.

Infact those broadcasters who are winning the slot of DD Free Dish automatically knows that they will get available in dishtv you can check in Focus News and all those channels which are available from Free Dish clearly advertising that they're now available in dishtv too.

Just for curiosity i want to know how will Dish TV be effected if they stopped taking feeds from DD Freedish and start downlinking everything from C band ? Will they lose some channels ?

Almost 60 channels. If Free Dish not allows dishtv to take their signals then dishtv will not carry DD channels and may ask TPs for DD channels because of same position and may be internally they're paying too for those channels.

Also 2 - 3 years ago, Salil Kapoor made a statement he said dishtv not required MPEG 4 migration right now because they're getting signals from DD s 3 TPs and they have 9 TPs and now think a public trading company s COO making this statement boldly then is they're doing anything illegal ?

Also dishtv providing almost 19 - 20 channels Free from their TP so DD Free Dish users are getting almost 80 + channels free and when those Pakistan channels was free that number was touching to almost 100 + for Free Dish users.

As I firm believe there having some internal contracts but no one disclose such things. ZEE group was a frequent buyer of Free Dish slot at one point they claimed almost 9 slots for their channels.

In their brochure and in their website all DD Free Dish channels are clearly stated as Free Dish channels as they put * along with channels so they make their point clear as its a Free Dish channel and if Broadcaster signs a LCN contract then channel will be available legitimately otherwise having no guarantee on those.

When you start following any particular DTH religiously, its obvious to have this kind of knowledge. Till i was using d2h, i was also having similar knowledge about them but i no more follow them.

i am sure they must be paying something officially or unofficially to gain all these channels else other DTH would have created issue for this by now.

I have no regrets to accept that I am a ZEE Fan Boy and Subhash Chandra is my business idol he revolutionized TV Industry and still ZEE is the only Indian Group who captured TV Market of whole Country. SUN TV Kinda network also not able to expand in ROI but ZEE spreaded ourself in South and doing well. They may not be number 1 because of Foreign currency but atleast not in bottom too.

Sun tv doesnt want to focus on cluttered northern channels as existing channels itself are struggling and one thing, when Kalanidhi maran went to meet subhash for getting time slot on zee tv, Subhash didnt meet him but gave an appointment.
