After a decade of operations, Dish TV has turned profitable at the net level for both the financial year and the quarter ended 31 March 2015. In fact, it has become the first Indian direct-to-home (DTH) operator to achieve this landmark. Dish TV posted a net profit of Rs 3.1 crore (Rs 31 million) for the fiscal, as against a net loss of Rs 157.6 crore (Rs 1.58 billion) in the year-ago period. On turning profitable, Dish TV chairman Subhash Chandra said, “I congratulate the entire team at Dish TV on withstanding all odds and putting up a strong show against its worthy competitors in the Indian pay DTH sector. The team has delivered on a difficult mandate of growth with profitability, something that I believe is essential for any commerce to be sustainable. Through this milestone to the next and thereafter, Dish TV remains committed to outperform the industry growth rate and create shareholder value while continuing to entertain its subscribers with rich content and compelling value-added services using updated modes of delivery.”
