In acquiring some assets of Twenty-First Century Fox Inc, The Walt Disney Company will also get its key interests in India: Star India and a 30 percent stake in direct-to-home cable TV services provider Tata Sky.
As Disney points out in its media statement, the deal helps expand its international reach by allowing it “to offer world-class storytelling and innovative distribution platforms to more consumers in key markets around the world”.
