Indian telecom could be in for more turbulent times as the Department of Telecom decides to seek legal opinion on whether additional 19 telecom licences that were issued on or after 10th January 2008 should be cancelled. The Department of Telecom, which has sought legal opinion on the interpretation of the landmark 2G judgement that cancelled 122 telecom licences- has asked if 141 licences should have been cancelled instead of 122.
A move- that will impact licences of dual tech telecom companies Tata Teleservices, Reliance Communications- and something that the GSM lobby COAI has been asking for ever since licence cancellation.
