Tats what I talks about what dishtv used to do they never unnecessary put black bars on the channel unless its from TV channel.

Because when you put black bars it disturb viewing in CRT TV also.

This is the channel only they put black bars and now reverted back. Only PQ is now a difference maker.

Also SD Sports channel should now start upscaling their feed rather then putting black bars or tries to follow SD ratio

I think converting 16:9 to 4:3 would lead to loss of picture....

Yes rather then getting full picture, Broadcasters may do to push for HD channels but in other country where HD channels are distant dream never tweak Aspect Ratio to 4:3 and broadcast as it is.

In US and UK, difference of SD and HD means pic quality and bandwidth of a content they never tweak AR.
