The DTH Association, Videocon d2h and Sun Direct have moved the Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) against the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) tariff order capping the installation and activation charges for DTH customer premises equipment (CPE) at Rs 450. The appeals have been put up for preliminary hearing on Friday. The DTH operators contend that the TRAI does not have jurisdiction to fix the tariff of CPE. They also contend that the regulator has failed to consider certain cost elements like CPE refurbishment and call centre costs while recommending a standard scheme for CPE.
