DTH players turn down Javadekar’s appeal for telecasting edu channels

Come on..... Education channels are running FTA on GSAT 15 TP's from MHRD. Don't tell me Dish TV paid money to Govt to get those 2 TP's on which education channels are running.

Dish TV just added those 2 TP's in their network similar to what they have done with DD Free Dish TP's

Any person can file a PIL against dishtv for free and a RTI in MIB that how dishtv can take DD channels for free and charging for those as a service from more then 1 decade. Its a clear breach of Govt. policy and day - light corruption. I think if we approach any senior leader of Arvind Kejriwal and educate them to file a case then they will get a great valid point to teach a group a lesson. Rather then being feel sorry for other DTH we can't let 1 group to miss use a Govt. property.

Exactly. And what's worse is, earlier they used to give a few of their channels as fta to dd free dish, but now, they've encrypted them as well. So now its a case of earning from both sides for them!

Clear case of misuse of power to loot common people...

Tats why I wanted a case to file against dishtv for the clarification for the lifetime as Sundirect too using TP of Insat 4B for HD channels but not adding DD Free Dish channels and these Educational channels, since if its free and dishtv is picking up like anything then who stopping Sun to add the channels in the STB, whether signals are weak and strong for them who cares but why they not arranging this crying for almost decades for space and at the same time dishtv utilising for free.

Yes, they should actually. The other dth providers re also charging for fta channels, but in thier case, they can argue that they are charging because they have to add those channels to their own tps and it eats thier bandwidth.

But as far as dish tv are concerned:
ISRO's satellite, ddfd's transponders, what are their expenses? In other words, not a single penny is spent by dish tv on those channels! Then how in the world can they charge them?? Its a clear case of fooling their customers!!

After speaking to a few close people from the dth industry and my friend from a private news channel, what is clear is that soon the dd free dish channels will be encrypted fta, ie though free without any monthly charges, those channels would only be viewed on set top boxes which dd will start selling in a few months. Also, even after buying the dd set top box, each customer would have to register with dd in order to watch those channels, ie one will get black screen untill they perform the above two steps. However, the 32 educational channels will continue to remain absolutely fta, ie anyone and everyone is free to tune and view them as the Govt. encourages more and more people to benifit from the free education through the 32 channels, and more in future. The govt is also trying to come to a solutiion regarding the availablity of the education channels in the other private dth companies

So, dish tv's exploitation of fta channels will finally end in a few months..
