ofcourse it has paid crores to get on FDD but on adtv it might have paid the lesser amount and rest can be done via packaging deal between broadcaster and dth platform.

it is FTA in C band and not in KU band.

Bhai yaar tum bhi kya baat kar rahein ho? Every channel is classified FTA or Encrypted on basis of its C Band feed only as C band feed is uplinked by broadcaster to their satellite from where DTH or Cable Ops downlink the feed and uplink it to their satellite.

So if TV5 Monde is FTA that means DTH or Cable operator don't have to pay anything to the concerned broadcasters to relay their channel and ideally it should be given free but that does not happen as mostly Rs. 5 or less are charged for these type of channels. This little amount is charged as service fee by DTH or Cable operator to run and provide the channels using their infrastructure. Many DTH ops do fool people by charging them more for few FTA Iternational channels even though channels like TV5 Monde Asie also pay hefty carriage to each Cable or DTH operator where they want their channel to be relayed . So such DTH ops take the revenue from both sides thus looting people

Remember DD or many other FTA or Pay channels which r popular do not pay carriage fee ( except when a new channel is launched by a private broadcaster and it wants to land on a DTH or Cable Platform, at that time they pay carriage for a certain period. Also in Cable sometimes carriage is paid even by popular channels to get higher frequency band in analogue or good or Top MostLCN Number in Digital Cable).

o if TV5 Monde is FTA that means DTH or Cable operator don't have to pay anything to the concerned broadcasters to relay their channel and ideally it should be given free but that does not happen as mostly Rs. 5 or less are charged for these type of channels.

Reason is DTH operators are not some roadside cable operator who can downlink anything and start broadcasting to their customers.

FTA channels are FTA only for end users and individual. None of the business entity is allowed to use those FTA signals commercially.

Even if a channel is FTA, DTH operator need to sign a deal with specific broadcaster to carry their channel on their platform. Now, since we all know how DTH work, every channel is downlinked in DTH operator headend and again uplinked on their satellite so that users can access those channels for viewing. Hence even if channel is FTA or free, it is consuming DTH Transponder space which costs millions.

So, that''s the reason DTH operators demand money from FTA channels called carriage fee to carry channel on their platform.

If so then DW should take the issue with adtv to make it available in all base packs and in case if any broadcasters want their channel to be carried on DTH then the amount should be paid after all TPs too cost.

Above comment is very funny that if channel is running FTA then DTH point their Dish catch the signals start earning by giving nothing to Broadcaster. If tat is the case then every DTH start grabbing those FTA channels first and start encrypting and start selling it by making ala carte. Even Free Dish signals are not free and suddenly their channels if any DTH claiming it because of same frequency. But I think DW should available atleast at Mid Tier pack because its Ku Band FTA channel. Any person can watch that by pointing dish and connecting FTA box.
