The Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax department on Tuesday raided firms linked to former Union Minister P Chidambaram's son Karti Chidambaram in Chennai.

The raids were conducted by the agencies on Vasan Eye Care and Advantage Strategic, a company that is also involved in the Aircel-Maxis deal.

Searches were conducted mainly in Chennai as part of a joint operation by the Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax department

Former union minister P Chidambaram on Tuesday accused the government of launching a “malicious onslaught” on his family after income tax officials conducted searches at places belonging to business associates of his son.

“If the government wishes to target me, they should do so directly, not harass friends of my son who carry on their own businesses and have nothing to do with politics,” he said in a statement.

“My family and I are quite prepared to face the malicious onslaught launched by the government,” Chidambaram added.

The former finance minister’s comment came after officials of the income tax department and the Enforcement Directorate raided business associates of his son Karti Chidambaram.

A senior income tax investigation department official told PTI that “some searches” were held, but declined to reveal details.

Sources said, “certain companies” including a private eye care chain in which Karti allegedly had a stake, were being searched by the two agencies.

Bahut achhe. Sab haramkhoro ke ghar raid maarni chahiye.

and this man along with his son deserves this. This was the only guy who has got someone arrested in Section 66 IT act. Isn't it ?
