If tats the case then why DD wants to keeps on providing MPEG 2 channels FTA ? If 10 out 1 person have DD Free Dish STB and 9 will enjoy the FTA ones then total no. subscriber of DD will be 1 and those 9 will gone to which category ?

DD users will be very less in that way and also from channel point of view why the one will go towards encryption way when paid channels are now inclined towards FTA mode for TRP.

DD Free Dish can be specific regarding signal sharing with dishtv, allocated specific TPs to dish.

By default all the subscribers of Dish TV are subscribers of DD Free Dish :D

There might be some strong reason for going for encryption of MPEG4 stream and only C K Jain can answer that question

once it is implemented, all new DD FD customers will buy only Authorized STB's and count will surely increase over a period of time with good publicity.

Even the channels might get encrypted, it will not cost us as we just need to register the STB with DD FD.

Existing 4 TPs' will continue to be on MPEG2 FTA to support existing customers.

It will take a lot of convincing from DD FD for broadcasters to bid for MPEG4 encrypted stream

There is no proper planning on DD's MPEG4 encryption, I am still not understand what Free Dish will achieve by encrypting signals ?
When there is no proper planning from private DTH operators, you can't expect good planning from Govt DTH platform :p:D
