Nope. It is clearly mentioned. Anthem played in theatres are not part of the movie. They are played through separate reels.

Since to avoid this disrespect movie halls in TN and Pondicherry don't play anthem other than news reel and awareness short films.

That's really better. In order to avoid the disrespect , theatres of almost entire India have stopped playing the Anthem these days.

Infact ot was stopped in Maharashtra too for many years but in 2003, it got started again.

Also per Indian constitution there is no rule that we need to stand for national anthem. Even MHA has given remission.

Prateek Marwadi Please read the below :-

Am I legally required to stand during the Indian National anthem? This question has been asked before, but never answered. Most of the responses talk about ethics etc which are irrelevant.

While we have the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, nowhere are the words "stand" or "sit" mentioned: Page on mha.nic.in.

Furthermore, a court ruled in 2005 that standing during the national anthem is not mandatory: Standing at attention for National Anthem not mandatory: Court

Finally, there is some mention on this government website about standing, but I'm pretty sure this is not a law. Page on india.gov.in . If it is a law, could someone point to a source confirming that it has the force of law? And if so, how did the court contradict it?

Once again, please comment only on the legal aspects of standing for the national anthem. I'm not interested answers talking about "done things", and "decency" and stuff like that. Unemotional legal opinions ONLY please!

Edit: If the home ministry orders are indeed binding, what is the punishment for violating them? After all, nowhere is it said that sitting amounts to disrespect, so you can't be charged with disrespecting the national anthem! Which Act lays down the penalty for violating these dubious "orders"?

When people can murder, rape and help terrorist to invade India, don't waste time in finding the law details and punishment related to it.

Standing when National Anthem is like doing namaste to our elders. There is no rule which says that we should respect our father and mother. Still we respect them.

Same applies for National Anthem. You want to give respect please stand up. You don't want its your wish but then there are many other present there who have their wish too.

Also, when we see some young or kid abusing his father or mother in public then as a good civilians we interfere and stop such kid.

Same has been done with this family and they left the theatre in shame and disgust.
