Review FDI Digital Cable Old STB (Pics) HDC1000C

Hi Guys, This is my first review of the FDI Digital Cable STB-Remote-Menu-UI and channels

About the STB: Model No: HDC1000C

The STB was introduced in 2011 as a replacement for the previous Cisco STB DVB-Z260.
From the make of the STB once can make out its build. This STB will work only till this year end.
Once Digitization is done and DAS implemented this STB will stop working.

Front View:

The Logo is printed on the STB, There are 3 buttons (power, ch+ and ch-). There are 2 led lights the first one is the power led, and below one is the signal lock led. There is also a provision for smart card, but this STB doesn't need a smart card. It works with a unique code assigned to each STB by headend..

Back View:

The STB has Cable IN, Cable Out, RF Out, S-Video, RCA Connectors.

Remote:

On Screen Display:

This appears when any changes are made to the channels from the headend. When pressed OK, the STB scans for channels.

Logo:

This appears when the STB is booting.


Channel Info

This show the info such as Signal Strength and Signal Quality along with other parameters

The Picture Quality and Audio Quality is great, some channels feel like its like HD.

Pros:
Great PQ/AQ
Quick Boot
Fast channel changing

Cons:
No proper channel list
No fixed LCN No
Always scan to update and add channels

Conclusion:
This STB has been a good one, but it had its own Advantages an Disadvantages;
This STB will work only till year end that is till Digitization, once its done and DAS is implemented this STB will stop working.
A new STB will be given to all customers. Also services will be revamped in coming months.

D Major bro,

This old STB was started in 2011 and the company kept giving this until 2013. From 2013 the company stopped giving STB as they knew digitization was on its way and it will be difficult to replace all these STB with new ones, as these are not compatible with DAS.

In 2015 this year they launched new STB which are DAS compatible and future ready. (Look similar to hathway/DEN mini STB)
The LCO have started giving out the new STB area wise, and they have to complete this replacement by December.
