Sterlite supplies optical fibre to the country’s top carriers that include Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio to enable their ambitious fibre to the home (FTTH) network rollouts. Sterlite Tech is also looking forward to doubles its order in the coming years. Rs 300 crore to increase the annual fibre production capacity from nearly 22 million to 30 million km, and the planned expansion, according to it, would be completed by June 2017.
In addition to this Sterlite Tech actively participates in the government-driven initiatives such as the Smart City and BharatNet. Mukesh Ambani’s telecom entrant Jio is banking on FTTH network services dubbed as JioFiber. For the last five years, Sterlite is growing at 28% and is currently doing proofs of concept, undertaking trials.
