Bhai woh durga puja hai which bengali celebrate and navratri is mostly celebrated by Gujarati so they play garba and dandiya for 9 days to resemble 9 different avatars of goddess durga

Might be in Mumbai - Maharashtra importance are there since Gujarat is connected with the state otherwise here before Punchami nothing happens.
