Here at my place I think even Airtel 3G is dependent on MTNL backbone. So, whenever MTNL is down even Airtel 3G go for a toss.

In my area bro. Any company 3G is dependent on some copper or fibre cables and I think due to unavailability of any other backbone MTNL would be providing backbone to all operators here.

Because whenever MTNL goes down even the 3G of Reliance and Airtel goes down.

Whereas Vodafone and Tata remain unaffected. So Vodafone would be using Tata fibre as backbone. But all this applies to my area only.
