Ray Whelan, CEO of Match Hospitality AG-which paid Fifa $240 million for the exclusive rights to sell corporate hospitality including private suites at stadiums and gourmet catering at the 2010 World Cup and this one-was released on Tuesday after spending the night in custody. Whelan was arrested at Rio's beachfront Copacabana Palace hotel as a result of Operation Jules Rimet in which 12 people have been arrested following investigations into the illegal resale of tickets for the tournament.
Earlier, Match Hospitality had said 59 tickets bearing RIL's name were found with the scalpers.
On its part, RIL too said it is investigating how the tickets bought by it ended up with Brazilian scalpers.
