I see. Airtel offers 2GB unlimited (2G) plan here for 249 p.m. valid for 28 days.

On !dea even if you are on 2g pack, you get to set your network setting to 3g wherein you get better speed than 2g.Its not possible on Vodafone.If you are on 2g pack, it won't allow you 3g and if you activate 3g your existing 2g pack gets discontinued.

U cant set ur network to 3G while using 2G pack in airtel too.

It's not like that bro. You can set your network to WCDMA/GSM and you will get HSDPA+ (3G) network on Airtel.
