LS polls: BJP marks its best ever performance in UP, wins 71 seats

It is the Bharatiya Janata Party all the way in Uttar Pradesh. In an unprecedented surge, the party which had won only nine seats in the previous Lok Sabha elections, has won 69 of the 80 seats in the state. It has surpassed its best ever tally of 57 out of 85 seats in the undivided Uttar Pradesh in 1998. The Congress has managed to register a victory in only 3 seats in the state.

TMC shines in West Bengal, bags 34 of 42 Lok Sabha seats

Trinamool Congress (TMC) registered a thumping victory by winning 33 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal. The contest in Bengal was four cornered with the TMC, Left, Congress and BJP competing for all the 42 seats.
