An eighteen-year-old girl, who had conspired with her boyfriend to get her father killed, with the help of the latter's friends, for opposing their relationship, surrendered before court along with her lover on Friday.
The girl's father, P Nagaraj, 60, a businessman, was found murdered in a pool of blood at Kappalankarai near Negamam the evening of May 23. Police said she was studying first year BSc computer science at Rathinam College here. Negamam police have detained four people involved in the case.
N Mahalakshmi from Shanmuga Nagar at Chokkampudur surrendered before the judicial magistrate court -V along with her boyfriend S Sathish, 19, from Premier Nagar. He was a college dropout who did not have a job. The court has remanded the couple under judicial custody till June 17. Mahalakshmi has been lodged at Coimbatore central prison and Sathish is at the borstal school in Pollachi.
According to police, Nagaraj from Chokkampudur in Coimbatore city, was engaged in the chemical industry, supplying materials to dyeing units. His firm 'Mahalakshmi Chemicals' at Balaji Nagar in Chokkampuder, was registered in his daughter's name.
When Nagaraj came to know that his daughter was in love with Sathish, he opened her mobile phone. He was upset with his wife and daughter regarding the latter's relationship.
