- It solves bookmark sync problems and stability issues
Google has rolled out a new update for the dev channel of Chrome browser. The build number has been incremented to 24.0.1312.1 and the revision is available for all supported platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome Frame).

There are few modifications in this build. However, significant for this release is the WebKit update to version 537.17 and the elimination of some bugs relating to bookmark synchronization. Additional fixes have tackled issues that affected the stability of the web browser.

One of them caused the browser to crash when closing GTalk. The other problem related to restoration of apps when the user restarted the browser in incognito mode.

On Linux, the development team has managed to solve the problem with the GPU process crashing on startup when the standard error stream (stderr) cannot be closed.

Google today released Chrome version 36 for Windows, Mac, and Linux (Update: Android as well, see below). Among the changes are various additions and improvements, as well as the usual bug fixes and performance tweaks; you can update to the latest release now using the browser’s built-in silent updater, or download it directly from google.com/chrome

Here’s the Chrome 36.0.1985.122 changelog provided by Google:
  • Rich Notifications Improvements.
  • An Updated Incognito / Guest NTP design.
  • The addition of a Browser crash recovery bubble.
  • Chrome App Launcher for Linux.
  • Lots of under the hood changes for stability and performance.
As far as we can tell, the first two points both refer to mainly visual changes. Notifications have been slightly tweaked with a flatter look and new icons. As for incognito mode, the new tab page has been revamped.
