One more point .., most of the Po**graphics sites including piracy are illegal and run on corruption and terror funding .... By watching the same we are contributing to what we condemn..... Its purely double standard.... Morning we watch news and shake our heads and say WTH .....12 year old got rapped killed ... Few bomb blast Gu....rrrr what is this gov doing ..... At night few of us relish the same services which is the resultant ... Of morning news..... CHEERS
Do you think watching porn and terrorism are same things?? or you want say only terrorists can bless children to watch porn??stupid logic bro.banning porn sites is wont give any results infact it will cause more frustration if Govt really wants to stop watching porn to children then thy have to take necessary steps like do not allow watching porn on net cafes and they have to take steps stop mobile downloading of porn to children.

The Department of Telecommunications in a discreet order on 31 July asked internet service providers to block access to 857 websites, including humour site 9GAG and CollegeHumor as well as Playboy, citing the threat to public morality.

"The government is directing Internet service providers as an interim measure to disable porn sites featuring child pornography. Other considerations will be looked into after court hearing," a top-level source said.

The order was criticised as censorship and sparked raging debate on social media and other platforms, following which Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad took a high-level review meeting on Tuesday.

After the meeting, which was attended by IT Secretary RS Sharma and Additional Solicitor General Pinky Anand, Prasad told PTI that it was decided that ISPs would be immediately asked not to block those sites which do not contain any pornographic material.

Govt backs down, asks ISPs to block only child porn

Within four days of banning 857 websites deemed to be pornographic and having been accused of moral policing for it, the government reversed the order on Tuesday, making an exception only for websites engaged in child pornography.

It, however, passed the responsibility of identifying and blocking child porn sites to internet service providers. In turn, the service providers protested, saying that they didn't have the wherewithal to identify child porn sites. Nor was it fair to hold them responsible if some site surreptitiously purveyed child porn, they said.

The government has been feeling the heat for the past few days for being viewed as control freaks with an objectionable streak of moral policing. On Tuesday, IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad called a meeting to review the apparently knee-jerk decision to ban 857 sites that were listed by a petitioner who had gone to the Supreme Court against pornographic websites.
