MUMBAI: Hathway Cable & Datacom has made a feeble effort to increase the average revenue per user (ARPU) of its base pack in the digital addressable system (DAS) areas, but it expects its subscribers to move to higher value bundles that contain some of the sports and English channels from Star India. Pressured to create packages after Star India decided to offer its channels to all multi-system operators (MSOs) only on reference interconnect offer (RIO) rates, Hathway has priced its base pack in the DAS areas at a monthly per-subscriber fee of Rs 230. Inclusive of taxes, the ‘Basic Pack’ will have, among other channels, seven Star channels including Star Plus, Life OK, Star Gold, Movies OK, Channel V and NGC. The mix will also pair Star’s regional-language general entertainment channels in different territories. In markets like West Bengal, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala, the base pack will have Star’s regional channels such as Star Jalsha and Jalsha Movies, Star Pravah, Suvarna and Asianet respectively.
