may be. But fact is they save a low of tax if things are assembled in India.

I have been using the 556-B model which I feel is the most stable of all the prior models that Videocon d2h offered, if you are contemplating on changing the stb I highly recommend 556-B
I have not had any issues till date .... Have been using it for over 3 months now.
I too think that 556 B should be having least bugs...I advise you don't go for 2233. It is too much buggy i'm currently using it..i would call it worst among all.
And 2222 was also having problems..we have heard many issues in 2222 also. So it would be wise to go for 556 B
Try to keep Standby your STB in the morning from 7am to 11am. Normally they update in the morning.
Then don't try to upgrade your Software. The new version may be visually attractive but the old one was too much better. At least all action against Remote function was more fast than the new one and your problem is till in the new version.

From morning 6 AM till 7:30 or 8 Am TV will be running and after 9:30 AM till 11:30 AM the tv will be running. Even on weekends the rv will be running most of in morning timing. But I did not noticed any update is happening. How do I get to know the updates?
