After several days of a blistering heat in the national capital, rains brought much needed respite on Wednesday. In the last few days the mercury in Delhi had crossed 43 degrees, which was 2 degrees above normal for this time of the year.

But on Wednesday heavy rains brought down the temperature with the maximum recorded at 34 degrees. More rainfall is expected on Thursday.

Thunderstorms have also been observed at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar islands and Kerala.
