Guy's here are my take:

In July 2013, Mr. Harit Nagpal stated that Tata Sky has been following up with ISRO for the Transponders and till now they haven't received any of them from ISRO. He also stated that in fact government has lost 7 million dollars as lease rental which Tata Sky would have paid for the 7 months of usage till now.

I feel there is a bit of conspiracy played out between Tata Sky and ISRO. I feel that it is Tata Sky which does not want to take these transponders now and they have kept these transponders as a backup to any failure to INSAT 4A (which can happen any time as experienced by the SUN TV). The Tata Sky will only take them when there is any failure. Since it is very clear that they have to pay a rental of 1 million dollars per month once they take charge of transponders. Also once they have these transponders officially the customers will start forcing them to add new channels which will also add on to their cost whereas they are already charging similar charges as the other DTH for their services without adding the costlier sports (Ten HD) channels or English Movies channel.

Infact they are also making losses to Indian exchequer by not assuming responsibility of these transponders. Also, Even after his threatening of legal action against ISRO, the CEO has actually done nothing.

Guys, Do give your comments on this.

Its not that they don't want these transponders. They have to get these transponders anyhow. Its just start of Digital Entertainment in India and huge space will be required.

Another thing is they won't have publically criticized ISRO and Ministry if they would be washing away hands with the transponders.

And not to forget, Tata Sky had already signed the deal with government and must have paid a big amount too.

well here's the catch, the CEO himself admitted that government lost 7 million dollars as lease rental for 7 months. Also, public criticizing is part of conspiracy between tata sky and ISRO so that Tata sky is keeps its image clear that they are requesting for the transponders and they are the victim of this government indecision. or what else explains that nothing has been done on legal front in taking action against ISRO. what is stopping Tata sky from doing it.

And you think present governemnt will allow Tata Sky to make shit of them. Never bro.

They will kill the entire company if they tried to show off in front of government. DTH is a very small business. It will never be a game changer for any financial impact of our country.

I think you misunderstood me, well Tata sky has not raised its fingers on the govt. It has only done it on ISRO who have already been paid of to keep quiet. And nothing has been paid by Tata sky to block these transponders for its future to safe guard its business in event of any failure to INSAT 4A.

Oh Yeah, That could be possible. If enough money would have been supplied to PMO and ISRO, this could happen.

But don't you think other DTH operator will make this happen. And for how long Tat Sky will sustain without space ?

isn't that the reason they are shifting to mpeg4 to create enough space to sustain their current requirement and keep GSAT as a backup to any failures without actually paying for it.

they can't do it both party have agreement .
