HELP how to use dth

Okay guys, I've read a bit about d2h but never really used it hands on. I have the local cable TV and stb.
I wanted to know is there any way to use satellites and watch free TV?
Channels like star movies axn etc.

I stay in mumbai.

Also I don't own any equipment. Willing to buy.

If some kind soul could teach me the basics it will be really helpful or give a link to some thread explaining basics to dummies.

You can watch FTA channels for free using a reflector and FTA set top box but fta channels are mostly music and news channels only .

Yeah I also read about dd channels. But is there no way to watch those other channels direct through satellite?

Wow thanks... Is there any guide out there which states what all u need to set it up? Like what dish and what box?

If your objective is to watch paid channels through satellite, then only option is go with any DTH operator. If you are fine with FTA channels from DD FD we can guide you.

No my aim is to watch all paid channel through satellite for free, I've heard about this sky satellite .

There is nothing like free sat bro. Let me explain a bit more on this

Currently in India there are 2 modes of broadcasting, C band & Ku band

C band - broadcasting channels use this C band to transmit their channels on satellite and to catch these signals you need bigger dish of size 6 ft and C band LNB
Ku band - DTH operators use this Ku band to transmit channels to us on pay mode. Only DD FD is providing currently 64 FTA channels on Ku band

In either C band and Ku band you can't all the channels in free mode
