The Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda), in its single largest property e-auction, on Tuesday sold 9.82 acres of commercial land in Sector 47 of Gurgaon for a whopping Rs 842 crore. Huda put the land up for e-auction on October 6.

“The site was successfully auctioned to iconic furniture retailer IKEA, a Swedish multinational group that designs and sells ready-to-assemble furniture, kitchen appliances and home accessories. It is considered to be the largest furniture retailer in the world,” an official statement from Huda office stated.

“This e-auction has come as a relief to cash-starved Huda,” said Vivek Kalia, estate officer (EO), Huda, adding that Huda sold two acres of a commercial plot to Hyundai in Sector 29 in 2016 at Rs 205 crore.

What I understand is ikea works on less workforce model. You look for the product yourself, you need to note down the part number, locate the part in their warehouse. Finally go and pay for it and take it with you.

I am not saying they won't employ anyone but it will be something like you see at Big bazaar in the starting and they gradually reduce the strength as people gets accustomed to the process.

I have been to IKEA store, we write the codes and at the billing section you say and the items would be brought to you. You have to install the product on your own

I saw some US based youtubers post videos about their experience at ikea and saw that they have to fish the part from the warehouse themselves. Maybe it differs from country to country. Or maybe like I said the store you visited was getting the people into whole ikea thing.
