Puducherry government has initiated steps to prepare a detailed letter to focus the "eligible parameters that Puducherry possess for being identified as smart city,"Welfare and Tourism Minister P.Rajavelu today said.

The Town and Country Planning Department has been asked to prepare a detailed plan on the features of Puducherry that satisfy the norms of 'smart city' scheme. "This would along with a detailed letter be presented to the Centre and also to the French Embassy, the Minister, who is in Delhi, told PTI.

Regarding smart cities they should choose backward cities first otherwise whats the role to bring the concept on a cities which are already or carries the potentials to become smart.
