IPL 8: Mitchell Johnson feels pacers can take KXIP all the way

Mitchell Johnson took two crucial wickets as Kings XI Punjab beat Mumbai Indians by 18 runs in their IPL8 match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. Punjab pacers swung the new ball prodigiously to land decisive blows. None of Mumbai batsmen were able to cope up against some superb bowling by Sandeep Sharma and Johnson.

Johnson, Sandeep Sharma and Anureet Singh accounted for five of the seven Mumbai Indians wickets to fall and the Australian pacer was all praise for Punjab's pace attack. Speaking to iplt20.com Johnson heaped praise on young Sandeep and Anureet.

"I am really impressed with Sandeep and Anureet. They train really hard and always give it a hundred per cent. You can never doubt those guys when it comes to giving it their all. Keeping things really simple has worked for them. I love seeing young guys like that who train really hard and it gives me a buzz", Johnson said.

IPL 8: George Bailey wants Kings XI Punjab to be consistent

Kings XI Punjab captain George Bailey on Sunday said that his side were the deserved winners in their IPL cricket match against Mumbai Indians though Harbhajan Singh's blinder of an innings gave them some anxious moments.

"It got a little hairy there at the end. T20, that is what happens. He is a beautiful striker of the ball. But we deserved to win as our bowling was outstanding, not to take anything away from Bhajji though," Bailey said after Kings XI beat MI by 18 runs in an exciting contest.

Succumbing to their second straight defeat in the Indian Premier League, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma on Sunday said his batsmen got out to poor shots against the Kings XI Punjab here.

Kings XI won the game by 18 runs at the Wankhede stadium. "I thought we lost it in the first six overs. We lost too many wickets," said Rohit.

"We played some stupid shots in the chase. We have some work to be done," he said, after Mumbai Indians finished at 159 for 7 replying to kings XI Punjab's 177 for 5.

Riding high after beating defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders in their opening match, Royal Challengers Bangalore will look to exploit the home advantage when they take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in an IPL cricket match in Bengaluru on Monday.
