Billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani, recently targetted by Congress leaders, told ET there's much more politics than logic behind the Nehru-Gandhi family-led party's critique of him.
Adani, in a rare media interaction, also said Congress leader Jairam Ramesh's facts are not in order, and the former minister tends to argue on the basis of "political convenience".
He told ET that Ramesh as environment minister had cleared the mining project in Chhattisgarh, and that it was Ramesh's last executive order before he demitted office as environment minister in the United Progressive Allianceregime.
Adani also said Ramesh was fundamentally wrong because the mine did not belong to theAdani Group but to the Rajasthan government, and that his group was the mining contractor.
"Let me put the record straight... The mine is owned by the Rajasthan government.
You would be surprised to know that this happened when Congress was in power in Rajasthan. And who gave permission for this mine? It was no one but Jairam Ramesh himself," Adani said.
Arguing that the earlier Congress attempt to show a nexus between Narendra Modi and industry had failed, Adani said most of India Incis still getting used to Modi's no-favourites style of functioning.
